Dual Enrollment is an opportunity for high school students to take college courses through participating colleges & universities while earning high school credit simultaneously. The decision to enroll in Dual Enrollment can have many benefits in reaching an individual student's high school and post-secondary goals. Each school system and college partner will have specific criteria and deadlines for acceptance/enrollment that is the student's responsibility to meet.  Measuring the level of rigor compared to AP and IB courses for out of state and highly selective universities is best answered by the student/parent contacting the admissions office of the university in which the student intends to apply.

A quick note on Joint Enrollment: may supplement and enhance your high school curriculum by enrolling in college courses as a joint enrollment student. Courses taken through joint enrollment result in college but not high school credit.  You are responsible for your tuition, books, course-related fees and all mandatory fees. If you wish to attend as a joint enrollment student, you must meet the Dual Enrollment program requirements. Students participating in joint enrollment are not permitted to live in the residence halls and may be subject to other requirements. This process is different from the Dual Enrollment process and the student initiates enrollment directly with the college partner whereas the Dual Enrollment process initiates with the high school in which the student is enrolled.

Summer/Fall 2022 Tutorial

A GREAT question Student Services frequently receives is "why does the high school and the individual college partners have different deadlines?" The reason the high school has an absolute deadline for all paperwork and applications to be complete is so students will have the best opportunity to get seated in the class(es) they are requesting. Another reason is that the high school must have time to balance student schedules in a timely manner while working on other student needs.  Thank you for understanding and working with us on the absolute deadlines.

The registration/enrollment process must include a student/school counselor advisement session PRIOR to applying or enrolling with the college partner. To set up a session with your School Counselor, contact Mrs. Coleman in Student Services.

Mrs. Cassie Morgan:    Student last names beginning with Ge-Par:

During the session, students will be advised as to the best fit re: the college partner, courses that align with graduation and academic goals, and collegiate expectations. Students will receive an advisement form and a Dual Enrollment contract that must be signed by the student and parent, and returned to Student Services prior to enrolling in courses.

**NOTE:  Students that receive accommodations for 504 Plans and IEP's must contact the Disabilities Center at the college partner in order to submit documentation. The college partner will review the accommodations and determine implementation for courses. While the school can provide copies of student documentation to the student, it is up to the student to comply with the college protocol for document submission.
